From strategic choices to widely supported execution

For NV Schade the greatest challenge was not only to set a new multi-year strategy, but to make that strategy concrete and executable within a complex, joint-governance organisation.

After working through the steps of the Strategy Cube, the focus in the final phase was on translating strategic choices into concrete execution. The strategic directions and choices were made concrete using the OGSM method, translated into clear objectives, worked-out strategies, clear planning and phasing, and explicit ownership within the management team.

The joint-governance structure of NV Schade calls for careful decision making and a clear division of roles. The management team took ownership of execution, the executive board could steer on coherence and priorities, and the Supervisory Board remained engaged as a challenging and sparring partner.

The combination of a carefully run strategic process and a strong focus on execution produced a strategy that not only sets direction but can also actually be delivered inside the organisation.
