Building impact, fit for the future

As a leading not-for-profit organisation in Western Australia, Scitech inspires curiosity and engagement with STEM. In doing so it plays an important role in building creativity, skills and confidence in science and technology in Western Australia today and in the future.

Scitech is at a turning point. The organisation needs a well-grounded and inspiring long-term vision, wants to explore the opportunities and requirements of a future location, and needs to determine which core capabilities and competencies are needed to stay relevant and impactful in a fast-changing environment.

The challenge of alignment

Developing a shared, future-oriented vision is not easy, however. Different perspectives, uncertainty and competing assumptions can make it difficult for decision makers to agree on the key choices for the future.

Creating shared understanding through scenario planning

To address this we applied a Scenario Planning Sprint Plus. It created a shared understanding of the future environment in which Scitech operates and translated that insight into a clear, executable strategic direction.

In an inclusive, facilitated process we brought Scitech staff and key stakeholders together to explore the most relevant, plausible and diverse future scenarios. The approach broadened thinking, reduced blind spots, tapped into collective insights across disciplines and created a structured but creative environment for in-depth strategic conversations.

A clear, future-proof direction

The Sprint Plus produced a series of jointly developed, high-impact outcomes. Together these gave Scitech a clear, future-proof vision and strategic direction, backed by alignment, insight and the capabilities needed to navigate a changing future with confidence.

"Jester Strategy brought structured sharpness to something that can often feel overwhelming: making sense of the future. Their scenario planning approach helped us cut through the noise and prioritise the futures that genuinely matter within the broad set of possibilities. What impressed me most was how practical it was. This was not abstract strategy theory but a genuinely usable application of planning tools that produced actionable insights. We also used the process as a development opportunity for our emerging leaders, and the team's facilitation made it accessible and inspiring for participants at every level."
