Strategy development in a changing environment

Rouveen Kaasspecialiteiten makes unique cheeses and sells them worldwide. From black lemon to green pesto, together with their customers they keep developing new flavours. As a cooperative of dairy farmers, Rouveen Kaasspecialiteiten operates in a dynamic environment. In the growing market for speciality cheese they want to offer sufficient long-term perspective to their members. The objectives of the previous strategic plan were achieved earlier than planned, so the management asked Jester Strategy to think along on the new strategy.

With the new strategy, the management wants to respond to the opportunities in the market. At the same time they keep continuous attention for the future perspective they can offer their members. During the development of the strategy itself, all sorts of things kept changing: the nitrogen debate, new opportunities for collaboration. By paying conscious attention to the various elements of strategy (playing field, differentiators, capabilities), there is now a well-considered and workable plan that leaves enough room to stay agile.
