Many care organisations went into a holding pattern as a result of covid. At Gemiva-SVG Groep, an organisation for disability care in South Holland, they thought differently. Despite all covid measures they decided to think through the new multi-year perspective.
Because of the lockdown the entire trajectory took place digitally. Staff, clients, they were all involved through Zoom sessions. The steps to arrive at the new multi-year perspective offered grip digitally too: defining the strategic challenges, running internal and external analyses, then generating options and making choices.
One advantage of digital meetings is that it is easier for many people to join. Gemiva-SVG is active in nine regions. Regional directors shared their knowledge about trends and developments and what they mean for the organisation.
Despite lockdowns and a curfew, in three months we arrived at all the building blocks needed for the new multi-year perspective. Some of those building blocks build on existing activities; others, such as smart use of technology, will get more attention going forward.
"It took some getting used to for all of us, but the working formats we chose ultimately meant we had the right conversations about the future of our organisation, even digitally."
– Gerard Gerding, Chair of the Executive Board
