From strategy to execution with OGSM

After the new strategy had been developed, the focus at aaff was on translating the course into concrete execution across the whole organisation. In a recently merged organisation it was essential to create direction, focus and coherence across all business units.

To implement the strategy effectively, the OGSM steering model was chosen. With it, the overarching strategy was translated into objectives per business unit, concrete strategic choices and initiatives, clear KPIs and measures, and explicit ownership within teams.

The OGSM model brought structure not only to objectives and actions but also to how the organisation is steered. A steady rhythm of monitoring and adjustment created an organisation-wide way of working in which strategy and execution are continuously connected.

The result is an organisation in which the strategy does not remain at headline level but is made concrete for every business unit. Through OGSM one clear line has emerged from strategy to execution, with focus, ownership and coherence as the result.
