Challenges in the equestrian sector

As the industry association for equestrian entrepreneurs, the FNRS supports its members in anticipating future challenges. Operating in the equestrian sector is becoming increasingly complex due to pressure on animal welfare, the need for sustainability, and rising costs. In the long term, additional trends and developments will impact the sector, presenting both opportunities and risks for entrepreneurs. The FNRS aims to prepare its members for these future challenges, working towards a sustainable and future-proof sector.

Looking towards the future together

With the involvement of a wide range of equestrian entrepreneurs and stakeholders, we conducted a trend and scenario study. Over several steps, spanning four months, we worked both in live meetings and online to explore the future. Together, we developed four distinct scenarios. Each scenario painted a picture of a future world in which equestrian entrepreneurs may find themselves. For each scenario, we formulated practical guidelines that entrepreneurs can use to adapt and ensure they are running a future-proof business. The scenarios were visualized by an illustrator and will serve as input for the FNRS to engage with each entrepreneur in discussions about building a future-ready business.

“Thinking about future developments is no easy task. Through the skilled and enjoyable collaboration with Jester, we were able to describe four scenarios with a group of stakeholders. These four future scenarios provide both the industry association and its members with plenty of food for thought on how to operate in a future-proof way.”
