For over a century, Koninklijke Jaarbeurs has been the leading force in organizing and hosting national and international events, conferences, and trade shows. With a multi-faceted operation, Jaarbeurs has shown remarkable agility in recent years, navigating challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic to the discontinuation of its “Master Plan” for Real Estate and the recent sale of one of its international divisions. Now, with a renewed team, the organization was ready to look toward the future with fresh vision and establish a strategic direction as a unified starting point.

“Strategy is about making bold choices, and Jester Strategy has supported us exceptionally well in this process. The team was sharp, adaptable, and positively challenging, helping us develop a clear, practical, and solid plan for the future. The advisors bring a no-nonsense approach and adapt easily across all levels—a pleasure to work with.”

Jeroen van Hooff, CEO & Marloes van den Berg, Chief People & Sustainability Officer

Jester Strategy guided the executive and management teams through the journey of developing a new strategy. Over approximately four months, our joint goals were threefold: (1) to create a logical, coherent, and distinctive strategy for Jaarbeurs; (2) to foster engagement across the entire management team through inspiring sessions; and (3) to produce a concrete roadmap for the next steps.

Together with the Supervisory Board (RVC), we identified the key strategic challenges that needed to be addressed in the strategy. We then formed different teams to dive deeper into these challenges, drawing inspiration from external sources, analyzing the facts, and bringing the management and executive teams together regularly. This collaborative process led to the development of potential solutions to the biggest challenges. With these insights, we concluded the process with a two-day strategy summit, resulting in a strategy (and plan) that is well-suited to Jaarbeurs and its employees.
